Our mission

frei:wärts is a volunteer-run, peer-based association in Tyrol, Austria. Our members are people with disabilities who employ their own personal assistants through the Personal Budget (Persönliches Budget). They are joined by people who support them.

​

We believe inclusion is a right. Every person decides about their own life, their own assistance and their own way. We share knowledge from lived experience. This makes it easier for others to become confident employers of their personal assistants.

What we do

• We provide free, independent information about the Personal Budget in Tyrol.

• We organise regular peer meetings for employers with a Personal Budget.

• We accompany people to meetings with public authorities.

• We run a job board where employers and personal assistants find each other.

• We collect experiences and make them visible to the public and to policy makers.
